Frankfort Township Democrats To Host Candidate Meet and Greet Sunday

Attendees will have the opportunity for a meet and greet with Illinois' 1st Congressional District Democratic nominee Jonathan Jackson.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Township Democrats and Dr. Gregory and Mrs. Angela Smith are scheduled to host a meet and greet and fundraiser with Illinois' 1st Congressional District Democratic nominee Jonathan Jackson.

"An Afternoon Tea with Jonathan Jackson" is scheduled to take place from 3 p.m. to 5 pm. Sunday, Oct. 9. The location of the event will be provided to those who register online via this link.

"Building a relationship with our future congressman is important to all residents of the 1st Congressional District," said Mark Cerkvenik, chair of the Frankfort Township Democrats. "If you can donate something, that would be great, but please come, don't feel obligated to do so. This is just a great opportunity to meet Jonathan and get to know him one on one. "

A $50 donation to attend is requested, but not required.

Johnson secured his party's nomination following a crowded 17-person Primary in June. He will face off against Republican nominee Eric Carlson in the November General Election. There are also two Independent write-in candidates: Tori Nicholson and Babette Peyton.

The 1st Congressional District map was redrawn following the completion of the 2020 U.S. Census. It now covers an area stretching from Chicago in the north all the way down to Bourbonnais in the southern end of the District, totaling more than 700,000 people represented in the District.
