Frankfort's Allegretti Lands $16M Deal With Commanders: Report
Former LWE Griffin and Fighting Illini standout Nick Allegretti signs with the Washington Commanders in three-year deal.

FRANKFORT, IL — A hometown football hero is being rewarded for making the most of a big-game opportunity.
Coming off a Super Bowl championship and a torn UCL in his elbow, Kansas City Chiefs guard and Frankfort native Nick Allegretti has locked in a three-year, $16 million deal with the Washington Commanders, reports Nicki Jhabvala, Washington NFL reporter for the Washington Post. NBC Sports reports $9 million is guaranteed.
Former Lincoln-Way East Griffin and Fighting Illini standout Allegretti made headlines with word that he'd torn his UCL in his elbow during the second quarter of the Feb. 11 Super Bowl—and played all 79 snaps despite the injury.

"One of the NFL’s toughest men has a new home," wrote NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on X, sharing news of the move amid free agency shuffling.
Former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long chimed in.

"Allegretti is into collecting rare coins. Imagine the pile he’s gonna have now," Long wrote on X. "Smart guy, tough guy, great guy."
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised his teammate for his part in the team's 25-22 overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
"Beast man!" Mahomes said on X. "We told him we needed him out there and he didn’t miss a snap!"
In his fifth year with the Chiefs, Allegretti came in clutch, starting in place of Joe Thuney, who suffered a pectoral injury in the Divisional game. Allegretti moved into the lineup for the rest of that game, as well as both the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. Allegretti played a combined 173 snaps in those three weeks, including 81 in the conference title game, according to fan website Arrowhead Report.
Allegretti, 27, has now won three championships with Kansas City. He was a seventh-round selection out of Illinois in the 2019 draft.
"Clutch, hungry player joining the Commanders," remarked ABC7DC sports anchor Scott Abraham on X.
Allegretti will have a chance to compete for a starting position with the Commanders, Chiefs Wire reports.
"Nick Allegreti signing is low risk with the potential for high reward," wrote Washington Football Analyst Jordan on X. "Can’t be mad at a move like this especially when you need OL."
