Give A Dog A Home: Ryker

FRANKFORT, IL — Have you seen this dog? If you're on social media, then you may have. His name is Ryker, and he's a 4-year-old bull terrier mix who has spent most of his life at Cache Creek Rescue in Frankfort.

Ryker loves and is loved by the staff and volunteers at Cache Creek, said the organization's Fundraising Coordinator Barb Bartkowiak, but everyone knows it's time for Ryker to find his forever home.

But Cache Creek isn't willing to give Ryker over to just anybody, so meeting him will be a process, Bartkowiak said.

"We want him in his forever home, but we want it to be the right home," Bartkowiak said.

Ryker is nervous around new people, and he has to warm up to them. Those interested in Ryker should not expect to just come in, meet him and take him home adoption, Bartkowiak said.

A good candidate for Ryker would need to be dedicated to coming in multiple times to meet him and then be willing to have staff from Cache Creek come to your home and interact with him.

"We need someone that can show him that there is a better home for him away from us," Bartkowiak said.
