Hickory Creek Softball Wins IESA State Championship

Hickory Creek defeated Washington Central in the championship game.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Hickory Creek Middle School varsity softball team captured a state championship at the IESA Class 3A state tournament last weekend.

"Under the leadership of coaches Mitch Stein and Erin Nemeth, the team brought home their fifth state title in the past 10 years," District 157-C shared on its Facebook page. "The team never trailed all weekend and dominated the championship game with an 11-2 victory over Washington Central."

In the first round of the state tournament, Hickory Creek defeated Channahon, 5-1, and defeated Chatham Glenwood, 6-2, in the semi-finals, according to the IESA website.

The District said the team had an overall record of 28-1.
