Kansas Street Opens For Outdoor Dining In Downtown Frankfort

The area will be fully ready and open for outdoor dining starting May 21.

FRANKFORT, IL — The seasonal closure of Kansas Street to vehicular traffic started on Monday, Mayor Keith Ogle shared during Monday's Frankfort Village Board meeting.

This annual summer closure started in 2023 and helps accommodate expanded outdoor dining for downtown businesses.

The initiative supports businesses by allowing them to extend their seating areas, "offering patrons a charming al fresco experience in downtown Frankfort," Ogle said.

"Additional benches and planters will be installed along Kansas Street, between Ash and Oak streets, creating an inviting space for residents and visitors to just relax and enjoy," Ogle added.

The area will be fully ready and open for outdoor dining on Wednesday. Typically, in past years, this closure has continued into October.
