Kick Off Summer On June 1 In Frankfort

The Village will host the kick-off to summer celebration from 3 to 8 p.m. at Breidert Green on June 1.

FRANKFORT, IL — Kick off summer in Frankfort with a yacht rock party on June 1.

The Village will host the kick-off to summer celebration from 3 to 8 p.m. at Breidert Green, featuring live music, hula-hoop contests, limbo challenges, a water balloon toss and lawn games.

  • 3 to 5 p.m., DJ Don Gray
  • 3 to 5 p.m., bubble blast ahoy with Jason Kollum
  • 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., balloon artist and face painter
  • 5 to 6 p.m., free home-made popsicles from La Michoacana de Frankfort
  • 6 to 8 p.m., Yacht Rock-ettes (female-fronted yacht rock band)

There will also be a mini car show, brought to you by the Frankfort Car Club, showcasing vehicles from the 70s and 80s, according to a release from the Village.

Attendees are encouraged to embrace the Yacht Rock spirit by dressing in their best retro nautical style; think breezy linens, bold prints, boat shoes, and, of course, a captain’s hat, the Village said.

“We’re turning up the smooth this summer!” Mayor Keith Ogle said in a release. “So, grab your shades and gather your crew— this event is the perfect way to cruise into summer together!”
