Lincoln-Way East Football To Face Loyola Academy In State Championship
The state championship game will be played at Hancock Stadium in Normal, at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
FRANKFORT, IL — In a rematch of last year's state championship game, Lincoln-Way East football will take on Wilmette's Loyola Academy in the IHSA Class 8A playoffs.
This year, both teams are headed into the championship game with undefeated records, according to IHSA. Lincoln-Way East is the No. 2 seed, and Loyola is the No. 1 seed.
To get to the state championship game, Lincoln-Way East defeated Chicago's Taft, 56-0; Minooka, 28-0; Warren, 24-0; and Barrington, 49-6, in the earlier rounds of playoffs.

Last year, East took second place in the Class 8A playoffs; the team lost to Loyola 13-3.
