Lincoln-Way East Football Takes Second In State
The team lost to No. 1 seed Loyola Academy, with a score of 26-15.
FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East High School's football team has finished in second place after the IHSA Class 8A state championship on Saturday.
The team lost to No. 1 seed Loyola Academy, with a score of 26-15. Both teams were undefeated going into the state championship, according to IHSA.
To get to the state championship, the Frankfort team had three shutouts in earlier rounds of the playoffs. They had previously won against Chicago's Taft, 56-0; Minooka, 28-0; Warren, 24-0; and Barrington, 49-6, in the earlier rounds of playoffs.

This year's state final was a rematch of the 2022 state championship against Loyola Academy. In 2022, Lincoln-Way East also took second in the state, after losing 13-3 to Loyola, according to IHSA.
Lincoln-Way East has won the state championship twice in recent years; in 2017 and in 2019.
