Lincoln-Way East Hires New Head Varsity Boys’ Wrestling Coach

FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East has announced the hiring of Collin McKillip as the head varsity boys’ wrestling coach beginning the 2024-2025 school year.

McKillip spent ten years coaching and teaching physical education at Grayslake North High School, and he spent the six years prior to that as an assistant coach at Richmond Burton. In addition to coaching, he will also teach physical education at East, according to a release from the school.

McKillip is from the southwest suburbs and is excited to return and bring a new energy to the boys’ wrestling program at East.

“His philosophy is to make each wrestler a better person,” Mark Vander Kooi, athletic director, said in a release. “He wants to grow both the student and the athlete, and we are excited to have him join the Griffins next year.”

McKillip has a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University Chicago. He and his wife Jackie, along with their four children, are looking forward to being a part of the Lincoln-Way community, the District said.
