FRANKFORT, IL — Two Chicago-area bands fronted by Lincoln-Way High School District 210 teachers will headline the first-ever Lincoln-Way Summer Fest next month. The musical event is a fundraiser for the Lincoln-Way Foundation for Educational Excellence, an organization that generates financial support for the school district's educational programs.

Lincoln-Way Summer Fest will run from 6 to 11 p.m. July 13 at CD & ME in Frankfort and will feature performances by Then Again and Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band. The concert is open to adults 21 and older.

“The idea for Summer Fest originated from our desire to get parents and the community involved in a
more casual and fun way,” Bob Kennedy, the foundation's executive director, said in a statement. “Those who attend will get to enjoy two live band performances while socializing with other Lincoln-Way parents, alumni and community members."

"Being an LW teacher myself, and knowing how hard we work for the students and the community, I look forward to playing summertime music and giving my colleagues and the supporters of the Foundation a reason to enjoy themselves, let loose and have agreat time — a party with a purpose," said Russler, a special education teacher at Lincoln-Way East.

Summer Fest also gives Russler a chance to share the event spotlight with another District 210 teacher. Jayson Polad, Then Again's lead singer, was a special education at Lincoln-Way West this past school year, and he will teach science at Lincoln-Way East in 2018-19.

“I am really pumped to play this event,” says lead singer of Then Again, Jayson Polad. “Not only is it a
great way to support our students across the district, but we get to do it in such a fun way. Johnny and I
have shared band stories for years but to now have an opportunity to play together for a cause our
whole district and community can get behind is a real treat.”
