Man Charged After 'Suspicious' Incident At Lincoln-Way East Volleyball Game: Sheriff
Attendees at a Lincoln-Way East volleyball game alerted a police officer about a man who was acting suspiciously.

FRANKFORT, IL — A Homewood man has been charged with disorderly conduct after fleeing police at Lincoln-Way East High School, leading to a large police response on Tuesday, the Will County Sheriff's Office said on its Facebook page.
The sheriff's office said a Will County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer was alerted by attendees at a Lincoln-Way East volleyball game of a man acting suspiciously. When the SRO approached the man, police say he fled on foot.
The SRO pursued the man into a nearby subdivision, and multiple law enforcement resources, including Will County Sheriff’s Deputies, K9 units, drones and neighboring agencies, responded to assist in the search, the sheriff's office said.

Although the man was not immediately located, the SRO was able to identify him through school security footage as Eric Havens, 57, the sheriff's office said.
About two hours after the incident, Havens turned himself in at the Frankfort Police Department, the sheriff's office said. He was taken into custody by Will County Sheriff’s Deputies and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he was initially charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer.

"At no time during this incident was there an imminent threat to anyone attending the event or the surrounding community," the sheriff's office said.
Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
“Our School Resource Officers work closely with our school partners to maintain safe learning environments,” said Sheriff Mike Kelley. “Thanks to their quick communication and teamwork, this situation was resolved safely and efficiently.”
