FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Village Board approved LED pedestrian crossing signage for the intersection of Pfeiffer Road and Colorado Avenue at its Monday Board meeting.
Trustee Daniel Rossi said the proposal includes the purchase and installation of three LED pedestrian crossing signs and four push-button activation devices "to improve motorist awareness and pedestrian crossing safety."
The equipment, bought from TAPCO, LLC, via the OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing program, would not cost more than $26,500.

The Traffic Advisory Committee recommended the purchase of the LED pedestrian crossing signs; and it also recommended sidewalk expansion and crosswalk optimization. The Committee proposed constructing new sidewalks along the north side of Colorado Avenue; and removing the southern crosswalk on Pfeiffer to consolidate pedestrian crossing into a single location.
