Joseph G. Hession
Joseph G. Hession passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Plainfield. He was born on March 24, 1936, in Co. Galway, Ireland, to the late Michael and Nora (nee Hynes) Hession.

Joe built a life filled with hard work, adventure on the open road, and unwavering passion for his favorite sports teams. He spent the majority of his working years in the trucking business as an owner-operator hauling loads of hazardous chemicals across the Midwest and beyond. His reliability and integrity made him a trusted figure in the trucking industry.
A passionate sports fan, Joe was an avid supporter of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks.

Above all, Joe was a great father whose love and guidance shaped the lives of his children. He helped his sons develop their own businesses. Drawing from his experience as an entrepreneur in the trucking world, he provided invaluable guidance, from navigating startup challenges to fostering growth and development. His wisdom and encouragement empowered them to build thriving ventures.
Joe was known for his friendly demeanor, always ready with a warm smile, a helping hand, or a kind word for anyone he met.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons, Michael Hession and James (Sylvia) Hession.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine; son, Kevin; brothers, Michael, Patrick, John, and James; and sisters, Nora Hynes and Mary Murphy.
Visitation for Joseph G. Hession will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of prayers at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
