Person Trapped In Cab Of Tractor After It Rolled Off Truck: Frankfort Fire District

FRANKFORT, IL — A person was trapped inside the cab of an upended tractor after it rolled off a flatbed truck while being loaded Friday morning, according to the Frankfort Fire Protection District.

The incident happened at 9:56 a.m. Friday in a ditch behind CVS, 11200 Lincoln Highway in Frankfort. The fire district responded after a "telehandler" rolled off of a flatbed truck while it was being loaded, coming to rest on its side in a ravine, according to a news release.

The operator was trapped inside the cab. The fire district said that multiple crews worked together to stabilize the telehandler and safely extricate the patient. New Lenox Battalion 61 also assisted on scene.

The patient was removed from the telehandler, treated by paramedics, and transported to the hospital for further evaluation, the fire district said.

"As the fall season continues and many construction and landscaping operations increase equipment transport, the Frankfort Fire Protection District reminds all operators and contractors to inspect load securement and follow all manufacturer safety procedures when loading or unloading heavy machinery," the fire district said. "Taking a few extra minutes to ensure proper stabilization can prevent serious injury or equipment damage."
