Registration Opens For Frankfort's Scary At The Prairie 5K

The event includes a 100-yard dash, 1-mile fun run, or the 5K run/walk.

FRANKFORT, IL — Although summer may soon be over, the spooky season of Halloween will soon be here, and the Village of Frankfort is already preparing for its annual Scary at the Prairie 5K and Spooky Sprints.

The annual race is set for Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m., at Prairie Park. The 100-yard dash, for ages 5 and under, starts at 10:30 a.m.; 10:40 a.m. for the 1-mile fun run for ages 10 and under; and 11 a.m. for the 5K run/walk for all ages.

Runners can come in costume for a chance to win prizes in the costume contest, with categories for best family, group, funniest, scariest and most creative.

After the run, there will be tricks and treats at the Green, including a DJ, balloon art, face painting, bonfire, donuts, cocoa and more, according to the Village.

You must register by Oct. 16; it is $15 if you run in costume.
