Tinley Park Man Dies Following Crash In Frankfort: Police

FRANKFORT, IL — A Tinley Park man has died from injuries he suffered during a Sept. 17 crash in Frankfort.

Joseph Shourek, 65, of Tinley Park, was pronounced dead Thursday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The Cook County ME listed the cause of death as "complications of motorcycle-motor vehicle collision." The Cook County ME listed the death as an accident.

Shourek was driving a motorcycle westbound on U.S. Route 30 at Pfeiffer Road in Frankfort at approximately 1:13 p.m. Sept 17 when he slowed down as he approached the stoplight, according to Frankfort Police Deputy Chief Kevin Keegan. Shourek was hit from behind by an unnamed person in a Toyota Camry, Keegan said.

Shourek was knocked off his motorcycle and suffered injuries to his head, Keegan said. Frankfort police took blood and urine samples from the driver of the Toyota, the results of which are still pending, Keegan said. Police also collected the Toyota driver's phone.

The investigation is ongoing, Keegan said.

A visitation for Shourek is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park.
