2 Women Accused Of Using Counterfeit Bills At Yorktown Mall

LOMBARD, IL — Two California women are accused of using counterfeit bills to try to buy items at Yorktown Mall Tuesday.
Ashley Lucas, and Siannah Hudson, both 29, were charged with delivering a forged document after the incident.
Police say Lucas and Hudson tried to buy merchandise at Zumiez and Claire's using fake $20 bills, but the clerks would not accept the counterfeit cash for payment. Mall security later followed the pair as they went to their car and police were alerted.

Lombard police stopped Lucas and Hudson shortly after and searched their car. Police say the found a bag that had 250 fake $20 bills in it, along with somewhere between 15 and 20 receipts from stores as far west as Colorado.
“The detention of the defendants in this case sends the message that in DuPage County we are serious about protecting our businesses from suffering loss through any type of illegal activity be it burglary, theft or forgery, as alleged in this case,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

He added, “I commend the employees at both Zumiez and Claire’s for their keen attention to detail and Yorktown Mall Security for contacting the police when they suspected foul play."
Hudson and Lucas are being held in DuPage County Jail and are set to appear in court again on Jan . 8.
