Accidentally Torn Check Leads to $3K Forgery

There were also repeat eggings reported in this edition of the Glenview police blotter.

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Forgery

A resident stated on May 31 they paid their landscape service with a check and inadvertently tore two checks from their check book and handed both to one of the employees. On June 4 they checked their balance and saw the two checks had been cashed. The first check had the amount changed from $150 to $650 and the second blank check was written to the landscape business for the amount of $2,950 with a forged signature.

A resident of the 900 block of Buccaneer Dr. stated someone stole a 47-inch TV from a bedroom in the home June 4. He suspects his former roommate who had just moved out of returning to the home and taking the TV. The estimated loss is $700.

A resident of the 3000 block of Independence Ave. reported someone egged their car while it was parked overnight in front of their home June 5. No permanent damage occurred but their car has been egged several times in the past.

Theft

Someone stole an unlocked bicycle on bike rack in the 1100 block of Church St. between 3 p.m. May 22 and 8 a.m. May 23. The estimated loss is $360.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A resident of the 1200 block of Canterbury Ln. reported their vehicle had been egged on three separate occasions between April 18 and June 5 while it was parked in the driveway. The estimated damage is $100.

Criminal Defacement

A resident reported someone drew on a fence with black magic marker in the 1400 block of Estate Ln. The offender drew a teapot. It is unknown when this incident occurred.

Criminal Damage

A resident reported sometime between 6 p.m. June 3 and 9 a.m. June 4 someone used a sharp object to make an 8-inch scratch in the driver’s side quarter panel of their vehicle while it was parked in the 1800 block of Tanglewood Dr. The estimated damage is over $300.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A resident of the 1700 block of Henley St. reported sometime overnight June 9 someone scratched their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of their residential complex. The estimated damage is over $100.

Criminal Damage to Property

A resident of the 1800 block of Chestnut Ave. reported sometime overnight June 10 someone scratched their motorcycle while it was parked in their driveway. The estimated damage is over $100.
