6 Injured In Multiple Hit-And-Run Crashes Caused By Suspected DUI Driver: Police
The driver is accused of causing seven crashes and leading police on a chase in Lake County Tuesday night.
LAKE COUNTY, IL β A34-year-old man accused of driving drunk and causing two hit-and-run crashes in Lake County on Tuesday evening has been arrested.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the first reported collision, which happened when the vehicle hit another vehicle near a gas station in the 36000 block of Grandwood Drive in unincorporated Gurnee, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The vehicle then fled the scene.
A short time later, the same vehicle hit a second vehicle in the gas station parking lot and fled again. The driver, witnesses said, appeared to be bleeding and was driving erratically, police said.

Police pursued the vehicle, attempting to pull it over, but it continued driving recklessly along multiple roadways in Lake County. At the intersection of Stearns School Road and Hunt Club Road, the vehicle sideswiped two vehicles.
One of the drivers in that collision sustained minor injuries, police said.

The driver became stuck in truck on Hunt Club Road at Grand Avenue and deputies attempted to enter his vehicle to take him into custody but he fled again, according to a news release. The pursuit continued east and then south on Route 21 before the driver t-boned a vehicle making a left turn at Gages Lake Road.
Four people in that vehicle, including two children, sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The suspect is accused of then running into a northbound vehicle. The driver in that car was also injured, police said.
The vehicle continued to roll south until a deputy used their squad car to disable it, police said. The man, whose identity has not been shared by police, was taken into custody and charges are pending in the case.
