Anna Ellen Minkalis Loved Fishing, Baking

Services will be held Oct. 23 for Anna Ellen Minkalis of Grayslake.

Anna Ellen Minkalis, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Manor Care in Libertyville, at the age of 97.

She was born Sept. 22, 1916 in Harrisburg, IL to John and Elizabeth (nee: Birstonas) Mitzia. Anna loved to fish, was an avid Cubs fan,Β and was known as a great cook and baker of carrot cakes.

Anna is survived by her children Patricia Minkalis of Grayslake and Carol (Dean) Shannon of Ojibwa, WI, her grandchildren Michael Shannon, Susan Kube, and Patrick (Jennifer) Shannon, and her great-grandchildren Erika and Trevor Shannon, Anna and Emma Kube, and Andrew, Mikia, Danika, Noah, Spencer, and Marissa Shannon. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, her brothers John and Albert, and her sisters Beatrice and Marcella.

Friends of the family may visit Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 from 3 until 7 p.m. at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake. A service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 10 a.m.Β at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Avon Centre Cemetery in Grayslake.
