Bald Eagle With Broken Wing Rescued
The eagle has been brought to Flint Creek Rehabilitation Center in Barrington where it's recovering, officials said Tuesday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A local wildlife rehabilitation center was able to come to the rescue of a bald eagle that was found in distress by residents in Antioch this past week.
Employees with Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Barrington received messages form residents last week regarding an injured bald eagle near their properties in Antioch, according to a Facebook post on the rehabilitation center's Facebook page. The eagle disappeared into a heavily wooded area near nightfall and was not located until the following morning by a local resident.

On Thursday, three residents living in the Antioch neighborhood stood on various shorelines of a peninsula where the eagle was spotted walking around the lake. But at one point the eagle returned to a "more protected wooded area."

When Flint Creek officials arrived the eagle, which had a broken wing, kept running under thick brush and fallen trees, Flint Creek officials said.
"I eventually went down on my knees, crawled under some fallen limbs and was able to grab the eagle," according to a post on the Flint Creek Facebook page. "We brought the eagle back to our facility and determined that it had an open wing fracture at the metacarpus. It is currently receiving medical care including pain meds, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics."
