Coroner IDs Grayslake Man, 27, Killed In Gurnee-Area Crash

The collision happened Saturday morning on Route 45 near Dada Drive in unincorporated Gurnee.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 27-year-old Grayslake man killed in a Gurnee-area crash as Andrew Ryan.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Ryan died from blunt force injuries sustained during the weekend collision, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

The crash happened at about 6:20 a.m. Saturday on Route 45 near Dada Drive in unincorporated Gurnee when a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed north on Route 45. The motorcycle went into the southbound lane of traffic and hit a southbound 2005 Nissan Rogue, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

A witness to the collision told police the driver, who was later identified as Ryan, was traveling at a high rate of speed before he lost control of his motorcycle while driving on wet pavement. He regained control but then crashed at a curve in the road, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
