CYN Counseling Center Recognized As Grayslake Patch Heroes

GRAYSLAKE, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Jordan Debbink, from Grayslake, who nominated the team at CYN Counseling Center's Intact Family Services, in Grayslake. Here's what Debbink said about CYN:

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:
Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:
CYN’s Intact Family Services Staff provide in home case management services to families who are at risk of abuse or neglect. This program monitors family interactions, provides linkages to community resources, and provides information regarding child development/age appropriate behavior and discipline as well as general case management services. Emphasis is on preventing child abuse and neglect and keeping the family together.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
The Intact staff have remained dedicated to serving children and families by consistently visiting homes, finding needed resources for these families and delivering needed items to their doorstep, assisting clients in obtaining needed services, and ensuring child safety by maintaining regular well-being visits.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
While many of our staff have the capability to work remotely during this time, this team, while following social distancing guidelines, is still visiting homes and working with families. Many of these families are undergoing extra duress during this time and with school being out, struggling to care for and educate their children. These check-in services are an essential part of their weekly supports.
