GRAYSLAKE, IL — As summer break winds down for many area students, it will be time for parents to start prepping for the upcoming school year.
Community Consolidated School District 46 students will be headed back to school in the coming weeks. Besides back to school shopping, it's time to make sure you've got the school year's most important dates pencilled into your calendar.
Here is a look at the calendar for the upcoming school year for District 47:

- August 21: No student attendance - teacher institute day
- Aug. 22: No student attendance - teacher institute day
- Aug. 23: First day of school for 1st through 8th grades
- Aug. 24: First day of school for kindergarten students 2
- Aug. 28: First day of school for preschool students
- September 4: No school - Labor Day
- Sept. 13: Late Start
- Sept. 25: No school - Yom Kippur
- Oct. 6: Half day
- Oct. 9: No school - indigenous peoples day
- Oct. 11: Late start
- Nov. 8: Late start
- Nov. 10: Teacher Institute Day
- Nov. 21: Half day in the morning/parent teacher conferences in the afternoon
- Nov. 22: No school
- Nov. 23: No school- Thanksgiving Day
- Nov. 24: No school
- Dec. 13: Late start
- Dec. 25: Winter break begins
- January 8: School resumes
- Jan. 15: No school - Martin Luther King's Birthday
- Jan. 17: Late Start
