Driver Fatally Strikes 2 Horses In Grayslake, Leaves Scene: Police
Nabor Carrillo is cited for driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash after police said he struck the horses and fled.

GRAYSLAKE, IL β A 56-year-old Park City man faces a pair of traffic violations after police said that he struck and killed two horses early Tuesday morning and then fled the scene of the accident, the Lake County Sheriffβs Office said.
Nabor Carrillo was cited for driving on a suspended license and for leaving the scene of an accident, which took place at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 18400 block of West Casey Road in unincorporated Grayslake, police said. Deputies were called to the area where there was a report of two horses who were found dead in the roadway after being struck, police said.
Deputies discovered that the two horses had been struck by a vehicle and died at the scene. Investigators found parts of a Nissan Frontier in the roadway and a short time later, a Park City police officer found a man removing parts from a heavily damaged Nissan pickup truck, police said.

Further investigation determined that Carrillo was the driver of the vehicle that struck the horses. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, where he was cited for the traffic violations, a Lake County Sheriffβs Office spokesman said. Police do not believe alcohol was involved and believe the driver left the scene because he had been driving on a suspended license.
Police determined four horses escaped from an enclosed farm in the area before the crash took place. The other two horses were located and returned to the individuals responsible for them, the sheriffβs office said. Lake County Animal Care & Control was notified of the situation.
