GRAYSLAKE, IL — More than $11,000 has been raised for a local family who lost a loved one in a collision this past week.

Joe Roon, 30, of Lake Villa, died in the collision, which happened at about 8:30 a.m. Monday on Route 83 at Center Street. Authorities say Roon was driving a Chevrolet Malibu that appears to have rear-ended a grey Toyota, driven by a 37-year-old man, while both vehicles were headed south on Route 83.

After rear-ending the Toyota, the Malibu collided with a black Lexus head-on, which had been headed north on Route 83, according to authorities.
