Grayslake Family Earns Nod For Sustainable Practices
One local family has joined the ranks of Grayslake residents earning "platinum status" for adopting various sustainable practices.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — The village's sustainable home program has gained traction in recent years, and one local family has joined the ranks of Grayslake residents earning "platinum status" for adopting various sustainable practices.
This past week, the village of Grayslake gave a shout out to the Hagedorn household on becoming the fourth "sustainable home" in Grayslake. Here's what the village shared on its Facebook page:
The Hagedorn's earned Platinum status through the program, which is the highest level of recognition within the Grayslake Sustainable Home program!
They earned this recognition by completing numerous sustainable practices, including, but not limited to, utilizing home composting, use of a hybrid vehicle, adding a rain barrel for efficient water management, a smart thermostat, addition of native plants, and eliminating invasive plant species from their property.
