Grayslake Firefighters Rescue American Flag From Flames
A photo of firefighters saving an American flag in Libertyville this week went viral on social media.

Within a week of Independence Day, a humbling photo of area emergency responders honoring their patriotism here in Libertyville went viral on social media.
The picture shows Grayslake firefighter/paramedics crew salvaging an American flag Tuesday outside of a fire-damaged home in the 500 block of Fairhill Road. The blaze did not result in any injuries, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
"Countryside Fire Protection District Chief Jeff Steingart told the men β all members of the Rapid Intervention Team on scene in case someone gets trapped or injured fighting the fire β to take down a flag because it was in the way ..." the story said. "'Out of respect for the flag, we started to fold it,' (Grayslake firefighter/paramedic Mike Higgins) said. 'I don't remember where I learned how to do it, maybe at other events or maybe it was Boy Scouts, I don't know.'"
