Grayslake firefighters rescued a swimmer on Grays Lake who got tired and became separated from his group, authorities said.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District responded around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a water rescue on Grays Lake.

Grayslake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief James Weidman said a bystander reported that he was told by two swimmers in the water that they had lost contact with a third swimmer in their group.
Firefighters verified the information with the two swimmers and a rescue boat was launched.

Weidman said the missing swimmer was soon located on the opposite side of Graysβ Lake near Jones Island.
The adult male swimmer reported that he had begun to tire while in the water.
He turned to go back to the beach after unsuccessfully trying to make contact with his swimming group.
The swimmer did not require hospitalization.
Divers and boats from Round Lake, Lake Villa, Fox Lake, Antioch, Gurnee and Libertyville assisted.
