Grayslake Gets First New Mayor In 16 Years

According to unofficial vote tallies, Elizabeth Davies has pulled far ahead of Jeff Loffredo with 90% of the vote total.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Elizabeth Davies has pulled far ahead of her opponent in the Grayslake mayoral race.

In a Facebook post early Wednesday, Davies thanked the more than 90 percent of voters who chose her over Avon Township Board trustee Jeff Loffredo.

"Thank you to everyone who believed in me and made sure to vote! Thank you to everyone who took a yard sign, donated, posted on social media, or sent encouragement my way," she wrote in the Facebook post. "Your support truly means everything to me, and I’m so excited to get a chance to serve you as mayor."

As of 7:30 a.m., and with 100% of precincts reporting in Lake County, Davies had 2,385 votes over Loffredo's 246 votes, according to unofficial results.

Davies will be Grayslake's first new mayor in 16 years. The mayoral seat has been held by Rhett Taylor since 2009.

"I love Grayslake, and I’m so proud to call it home. I’m committed to making our community an even better place for all of us and I can’t wait to get to work," Davies wrote in her Facebook post.
