School Shooting Threat Not Credible: Grayslake Police

Police had a larger presence around Grayslake school Thursday morning and recess and gym classes were moved indoors.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Grayslake police determined a reported threat regarding a shooting at a Grayslake school was not credible.

Late Wednesday night, a Gurnee resident told police he received a random, unsubstantiated threat via a spoofed IP address phone call regarding a school shooting that would take place at a school in Grayslake Thursday, Community Consolidated School District 46 Superintendent Lynn Glickman wrote in a letter to parents.

The threat did not specify which school would be targeted, Glickman said.

School officials said there will be increased police presence Friday morning around schools. On Thursday morning, police determined the threat was not credible or related to any Grayslake-area schools.

School officials did decide to move recess and physical education indoors after learning it would make some students and parents more comfortable.
