Grayslake Schools On Lockdown As Search Continues For Armed Suspect
Increased police presence and a suspect on the loose in the area lead to the lockdown at schools.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Schools in Grayslake have been placed on a soft lockdown as authorities search for a suspect that is considered armed and dangerous.
School officials say police are looking for a suspect who they believe has since left the Grayslake area in a vehicle.
"Although the individual has left the immediate vicinity, we prefer to err on the side of caution. For this reason, all of our schools are going into soft lockdown," Superintendent Lynn Glickman wrote in an 11:20 a.m. update to parents.

The Lake and McHenry Scanner is reporting the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and crashed a white Lexus RX 350 sports utility vehicle at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Churchill Lane in Grayslake. Authorities began searching for the suspect, and officers were spotted using a drone to search the area of the Redwood Golf Course.
On Monday, CCSD 46 officials alerted parents to the situation and initially began the school day without any lockdown in the place. Later in the morning, police called on school officials to put Meadowview and Avon schools on soft lockdown, according to a 10 a.m. update from CCSD 46. At that time, other schools were not placed on lockdown but students were kept inside for recess and physical education, Glickman said.
