Hubble Space Telescope Presentation, Steampunk Show This Week

Are you looking for something to do this week?Β
Perhaps you want to learn more about the Hubble Space Telescope during a special (and free!) presentation at Wildwood Presbyterian Church. Or maybe you're a "steampunk" fan and want to check out Alwin Anthony Salon's Steampunk Costume and Fashion Show.Β
Here's a look at some events coming up this week:
Sweet Story Time
Cacao Sweets & Treats will host story time for toddlers and preschoolers each Tuesday at 11 a.m., including Oct. 22. Katie from Moving Mountains Montessori School will read loaned books from This Old Book. Those who attend can also enjoy discounted treats and drinks.
Hubble Presentation
Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 18630 W. Old Gages Lake Road, will host a lecture at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 titled "Through the Eyes of Hubble." Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium will present images and science from the last 23 years of the Hubble Space Telescope's mission. The event is free and open to all. Steampunk Show
Alwin Anthony Salon will hold its annual Fall Fashion Show Oct. 26 at the Lake House Restaurant in Lake Villa, 850 Tower Drive No. 100. The show will be a "Steampunk Costume and Fashion Show" that will showcase hair and makeup prepared by Alwin Anthony stylists, along with accessories from Erin Rose Design. Tickets are $30 per person. Read more about the event here.
Trick or Treat!Β
The 2013 Halloween Fall Festival and Business Trick or Treat is slated for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26. The Grayslake Village Hall will host an open house during that time. Children can come in to get candy or even sit in a police car or public works truck. Guests can tour Village Hall. Find out information about village trick or treat hours here.
