Lake County Health Officials: Case Updates, Phase 3 Guidelines

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” As of Monday, the total number of coronavirus cases in Lake County is 7,807, including 248 deaths, according to health officials. This comes after the long holiday weekend, and just days before the state enters Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan.

Cases of the coronavirus by municipality in Lake County:

  • Grayslake: 70 to 74
  • Round Lake: 170 to 174
  • Libertyville: 70 to 74
  • Lindenhurst: 70 to 74
  • Waukegan: 2,275 to 2,279 cases
  • Gurnee: 210 to 214 cases
  • Vernon Hills: 120 to 124
  • Mundelein: 315 to 319
  • Lake Forest: 100 to 104

As Lake County prepares to enter Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan Friday, health officials announced Tuesday the safety guidelines and toolkits available to help businesses open and bring employers back to work. Lake County health officials' priority is the health and safety of residents, and according to a news release, said they continue to use every available resource to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, as guidelines for Phase 3 span 10 different industry categories. Additional businesses will be able to open following state safety guidelines, and small gatherings will be permitted while social distancing and using a face covering, the news release said.

The industry-specific toolkits and the guidelines expected and encouraged among all employers and all types of activity, include:

  • Manufacturing: Manufacturing facilities such as plants, factories and mills
  • Offices: Non-customer-facing offices such as: legal; accounting services; architectural/engineering design; and other professional services
  • Retail: Retailers and merchandisers such as: grocery stores; hardware stores; clothing stores; pharmacies; department stores; shopping malls
  • Service Counters: Stores providing assorted services for dropped off goods, such as: dry cleaners; electronics repair shops; shoe repair shops; car washes
  • Youth Sports: Youth sports games or matches, group sports lessons, team or group sports practices (no competitive sports permitted in Phase 3)
  • Health and Fitness Centers: Gyms, fitness centers, yoga, dance, cycling, Pilates, barre studios, and other customer-facing fitness centers
  • Personal Care Services: Hair salons, barber shops, nail salons, spas, massage parlors, waxing centers, tattoo parlors
  • Outdoor Recreation (full toolkit coming soon): Customer facing services such as driving ranges, outdoor shooting ranges, paintball courses, outdoor adventure parks
  • Day Camps (full toolkit coming soon): Recreational youth programs such as sports camps, recreational camps, educational camps
  • Restaurants and Bars (outdoor dining and drinking): Full-service restaurants, limited-service restaurants, snacks bars, taverns, and other food and beverage businesses
