Man Accused Of Stealing $10K In Jewelry From Round Lake Home

The 37-year-old man is accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of jewelry​ from a home in the 30 block of North Waterford Drive.

ROUND LAKE, IL — A 37-year-old man faces residential burglary and theft charges for allegation he broke into a home in Round Lake and stole about $10,000 worth of jewelry.

The Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting authorities linked Jose Maestre-Avila to the burglary after a fingerprint lifted from the mirrored edge of a jewelry tray came back as a match to the 37-year-old man.

He is accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of jewelry from a home at about 4:10 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the 30 block of North Waterford Drive in Round Lake. He then allegedly went to a pawn shop the next day and sold several gold rings, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

Maestre-Avila has been ordered to remain detained as court proceedings move forward in Lake County Circuit Court.
