Man Accused Of Throwing Cat Out Car Window, Running It Over, Killing It
The 41-year-old Round Lake Park man now faces cruelty to animals charges in Lake County.

Police arrested a Round Lake Park man after witnesses reported seeing him throw two cats out of his car, running one of them over and killing it, in Round Lake Park.
Eduardo Flores-Rodriguez, 41, of the 400 block of Center Lane in Round Lake Park, was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of cruelty to animals. Round Lake Park Police Chief Daniel Burch told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the incident occurred on July 20.

Two people were behind Flores-Rodriguezβs vehicle near 1 Timbercreek Drive in Round Lake Park. The witnesses saw the aftermath of a cat being run over by the manβs vehicle, Burch said.
They followed Flores-Rodriguez and saw him throw a second cat out of his car onto the roadway near Porter Drive and West Main Street. The first cat died but the second cat was unharmed, court documents show.

The witnesses took photos of the vehicleβs license plate and called the police. Flores-Rodriguez told officers he thought he had run over a squirrel, Burch said.
Flores-Rodriguez denied owning any cats and officers found no indication of any animals living at his home. Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Flores-Rodriguez held on a $200,000 bond.
The man has since been released from the Lake County Jail on bond.
Flores-Rodriguez was ordered to not possess any domestic animals as a condition of his bond, court documents said.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on September 1 for a preliminary hearing.
