Man Hit By Car Near Round Lake On Fourth Of July: Police

A 67-year-old man was hit by a car while crossing Fairfield Road at Nippersink Road in unincorporated Round Lake.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” A 67-year-old man was injured after being hit by a car while crossing Fairfield Road near Round Lake on the Fourth of July.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the area of Fairfield Road and Nippersink Road in unincorporated Round Lake at about 9:10 p.m. after a 2007 Nissan Versa, which was headed south on Fairfield, hit the man while he crossed the roadway, according to the sheriff's office news release.

The man, who is from unincorporated Round Lake, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Nissan, a 22-year-old Wauconda woman, was not injured.

Authorities say the Round Lake-area man was not wearing reflective or contrasting clothing and was not crossing in a crosswalk, police said. The roadway is in an area that is not lit.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
