Petite Lake Road Closes At Illinois 59

Petite Lake Road will be closed at the Illinois 59 intersection, in unincorporated Lake County, beginning, weather permitting, June 15.

From the State of Illinois: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that Petite Lake Road will be closed at the Illinois 59 intersection, in unincorporated Lake County, beginning, weather permitting, Thursday, June 15. The closure is part of a larger project to resurface Illinois 59 between Illinois 132 and Highwoods Drive.

In order to complete the work, Petite Lake Road will be closed between June 15 and August 15. A posted detour will direct westbound Petite Lake Road traffic to go south on Fairfield Road and west on Grand Avenue (Illinois 132) and north on Illinois 59 to meet back with Petite Lake Road.

The closure is necessary for intersection reconstruction at Petite Lake Road and Illinois 59. The overall project consists of resurfacing, intersection reconstruction and traffic signal installation along Illinois 59 from Illinois 132 to Highwoods Drive.

The overall project is expected to be completed in Fall 2017.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
