Search Continues For Man Thrown From Boat In Lake County: Police

One man was rescued and the search continues for another man who went underwater after both were thrown from a boat on Fox Lake Monday.

FOX LAKE, IL — A search continues Tuesday for a man who went underwater in Lake County after being thrown from a boat.

Emergency crews responded to Fox Lake at about 5:30 p.m. for a report of two men who went overboard after their boat took a turn at "too fast of a speed," Lake County Sheriff's Office deputy chief Christopher Covelli told Patch Tuesday morning. The incident happened near Captain's Quarters, 38283 N. Bolton Place in Antioch.

Neither men had life jackets on at the time, Covelli said. One of the men was rescued by a passing boat, and other man went underwater and did not resurface.

The man who was rescued was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained while trying to get back onto his boat, which was traveling in circles in the water, Covelli said.

Search operations, which is being lead by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Antioch Fire Protection District, continued into the evening hours Monday, Covelli said. The search resumed Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., he said.
