GRAYSLAKE, IL β€” The Vine will soon open its much-anticipated outdoor patio space to the public, which will seat 100 and be open year-round.

Mike Pruitt, owner of the popular wine and martini bar in downtown Grayslake, has invested $1 million into the outdoor space, which Grayslake residents have been asking him about daily in recent weeks as construction work continued and he had not yet set an opening date, Pruitt recently told Patch.

On Thursday, The Vine announced it would host the grand opening of its "new outdoor dining experience" on June 23 and 24. Reservations will not be available and seating will be limited to availability, according to a post on The Vine's Facebook page. The space will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pruitt started drafting up plans for the patio space five years ago. The restaurant has been open for 17 years and the old patio space had reached the end of its lifespan.

β€œIt’s good to see the excitement not only in our staff and ourselves but to see the excitement from the town,” Pruitt told Patch in recent weeks. β€œIt’s insane how excited people are. We knew there was going to be excitement, but there’s not a day that goes by when a dozen or more people ask about it or tell us how excited they are."

The space will be large enough to host parties and live music events, and there will be outdoor heaters available during the colder months for those wishing to use the space year-round.

The Vine has been posting updates about its patio project on its Facebook page, which those wishing to follow along can do so here.
