Zion-Benton Student, 18, Accused Of Stabbing 15-Year-Old Student

ZION, IL β An 18-year-old student at Zion-Benton Township High School was arrested after police said he stabbed a 15-year-old student on school grounds, police said.
According to authorities, Joseph Braggs stabbed the unnamed 15-year-old during a fight Monday morning. Officials did not immediately respond to questions on what exact time the fight started or what started the fight.
The 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital with a stab wound where he is expected to recover, Zion police said in a statement.

Braggs is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with great bodily harm. The man appeared in bond court Monday and is being held at Lake County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Police said school officials had broken up the fight by the time authorities arrived and had the injured student in their care before he was taken to the hospital.

"We are working with appropriate authorities and parents of both students at this time," Zion-Benton High School officials wrote in a social media statement. "Please note that the safety and well-being of students remains our top priority."
