D113 Collecting Coats for Veterans at Sept. 26 HPHS-DHS Football Game

The collection, which is organized by the two police departments, is part of Operation Stand Down.

The following is from District 113:

Township High School District 113 is once again joining the Highland Park Police Department and the Deerfield Police Department in the “Operation Stand Down” coat collection for veterans. Gently used coats will be collected at the entrances of the crosstown football game between Highland Park and Deerfield High Schools at Deerfield High School on September 26 and given to the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County, which provides assistance in medical, legal, housing, and job placements services to veterans and their families when needed.

“Last year’s ‘Operation Stand Down’ collection was wildly successful. We hope our communities will join us at the game with a gift of warmth for a veteran and stay for a great game of football,” said Superintendent George Fornero.
