Firefighters Rescue Injured Person From Highland Park Ravine

Firefighters conducted a technical rescue on a person who fell in a ravine and sustained a leg injury in Highland Park Saturday afternoon.

The Highland Park Fire Department responded around 3:40 p.m. Saturday to the area of Ravine Drive and Linden Avenue in Highland Park.

Dispatchers received a call for a report of a subject who fell and injured their leg in a ravine.

Highland Park Fire Chief Joe Schrage told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the call was upgraded to a technical rescue and a total of five fire apparatus and 10 personnel responded.

Firefighters arrived and located a patient who was about 15 feet below grade on a muddy slope.

Crews used a tree to anchor a three-to-one mechanical advantage system and a rescue basket to rescue the patient, Schrage said.

Crews encountered no complications during the rescue.

The subject’s condition was stabilized and paramedics transported them to an area hospital for treatment.
