Help Your High Schooler Reduce Stress and Find Balance

District 113 is offering a workshop next week for parents and guardians of high school students.

The following is from District 113:

Parents and guardians of high school students are invited to a workshop to learn ways to help their child find balance and reduce stress.

This educational evening program, which will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Highland Park High School, is sponsored by the Deerfield and Highland Park High School counseling departments, Deerfield Parent Network, and Highland Park High School PTO. Highland Park High School is located at 433 Vine Ave., Highland Park.

Dr. Lara Jakobsons, a clinical psychologist, and Marcella Bicoff, LCSW, on behalf of North Shore University Health System will present information on the following topics:

· Normalizing stress

· Balancing independence versus intervening

· Intentional parenting

· Assisting without enabling

· Tolerating natural consequences for your child

· Recognizing and dealing with a crisis
