Highland Park Community Member Tapped As Next MCA Chicago Chair

Known for his philanthropy and art collection, Highland Park community member William Silverstein will serve as the museum's new chair.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park community member, art collector and long-time trustee William Silverstein was selected as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Throughout his 10-year tenure on the museum's Board, Silverstein has provided insightful and empathetic leadership, playing an active role in shaping the museum's strategic direction and governance. He succeeds outgoing chair Cari B. Sacks following the Monday election.

“We welcome Bill Silverstein as our new Chair of the Board of Trustees,” said Pritzker Director Madeleine Grynsztejn. “His enthusiasm for collecting and sharing art is inspiring, and I look forward to how his thoughtful leadership will help shape the MCA’s future.”

Outside his role at the museum, Silverstein co-owns the largest privately held portfolio of multifamily apartment buildings across Chicago. He has also held key positions across the nonprofit landscape including serving as chair of the Jewish United Fund Annual Campaign and the Board of Directors for the Jewish United Fund/Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

The Silverstein family also supports The Ark, a 75-year-old social service agency in Chicago that provides food, counseling and medical care to Jewish Chicagoans.
