Bernie spent more than 20 of those years working at Highland Park Hospital and, after retiring, continued to provide care and assistance for the elderly in her community. Whether she was the smiling face greeting patients at the receptionist desk, coordinating meals for the patients whom she lovingly cared for, or overseeing the wide array of in-room equipment, Bernie was a beloved and committed member of the Highland Park Hospital family.
Not wanting to rest in retirement, Bernie pursued another career in residential real estate helping families find and sell their dream homes. Bernie was also a devoted member of the Christ Church congregation, of which she was a loving and kind presence for many years.
Bernice is survived by her younger brother Oliver who lives with his wife Joyce in Lake Bluff, an older half-sister Dorothy Webb of Kenosha, Wisconsin, her daughter Susan Davis Hesse who lives with her family in La Jolla, California, and her son D. Michael Davis who resides in Necedah, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Michael Bradley Hesse and Stephanie Elizabeth Hesse.
