HP Police Warn of IRS Scam
To avoid being a victim, never give personal information out over the phone.

The following is from the Highland Park Police Department:
During the past several days surrounding police jurisdictions have received numerous reports from residents concerning unsolicited calls from an individual purporting to be a US Treasury Department (IRS) agent. The caller informs the resident they are delinquent on their tax payments and have been unresponsive to inquiries made by the US Treasury Department.
The caller then states IRS agents are en route to the home to arrest the responsible parties. The resident is also instructed to contact a phone number supplied by the caller to make arrangements for payment and avoid the arrest. To this date, there have been no such reported incidents in Highland Park.
