Medical Office Considered for Former Saks Space

A medical office building is a top choice to replace the space once occupied by Saks Fifth Avenue at Highland Park’s Renaissance Place, according to a news release from shopping center management.

While working with the City to determine the best use for the 49,000 square foot area, shopping center ownership has identified a medical office building as a strong potential use but has not ruled out other possibilities.

“We want to ensure that the new tenant will be economically viable, enhance the center and complement the downtown business district,” Renaissance General Manager Christaine Fischer said.

Ideas like a boutique hotel or art center have been ruled out because they are not economically viable, according to Fischer.

Though Renaissance recently renewed leases with Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Chipolte, it remains 40 percent vacant.
