- Hinsdale Adventist Academy opened its doors for its first day of school Monday morning.
- The Hinsdale Community Pool has moved on to school hours, meaning it'll only be open Saturdays and Sundays between now and Labor Day.
- The Woods Pool in Burr Ridge, meanwhile, has completely closed for the summer.
- Oakbrook Center's White House | Black Market is offering a 15 percent discount for all teachers between now and Sept. 9.
- Parents who'll start driving their kids to school in Clarendon Hills this week should know that construction work on the Prospect Avenue railroad crossing begins this week. Traffic will be detoured west to Cass Avenue.
