84-Year-Old Tries to Steal $2K Worth of Alcohol From Whole Foods: Hinsdale Police

Anyone else wondering how he thought he'd get away with it?

An 84-year-old thief was caught trying to steal alcohol from Whole Foods last week — and he wasn't just trying to sneak a bottle under his coat.

Phillip Grandinetti, an Oak Brook resident, attempted to steal bottles of alcohol totaling $1,839.78 from the store, according to Hinsdale police reports. He was seen trying to leave the location at 500 E. Ogden Ave. without paying around 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3.

After employees caught Grandinetti and called the police, cops charged him with retail theft and he was released to appear in court.
